Newcastle’s African Team “Zambia” to Compete in NSW African Cup
Hunter Multicultural Communities (HMC) is proud to announce that Newcastle will be represented in the 6th Annual African Australian Football Association (AAFA) Multicultural Communities World Cup Football Tournament, also known as the NSW African Cup, with a team named “Zambia.”
The tournament, running from 11 October to 7 December 2025 at Rydalmere Park in Sydney, brings together African communities from across New South Wales in a celebration of football, culture, and multicultural pride. Now in its sixth year, the event has become a highlight for African-Australian communities, showcasing both sporting talent and community spirit.
While the Newcastle team plays under the name Zambia, the squad is made up of 23 open men’s players from across Africa – including Zambia – reflecting the rich diversity and unity of Newcastle’s African community.
HMC is supporting the team through coordination and fundraising to cover essential costs such as uniforms, equipment, travel, team registration fees, and refreshments.
